Ask the company

Internal AI agents and self-hosted enterprise search

Your team stops asking each other where things are. We index the systems your company already runs on, from SharePoint and the CRM to the wiki and the drive, on infrastructure you control, and put an agent in Slack or Teams that can read them.

Where it works

In the tools your team already has open

An internal agent that lives on its own website gets used twice. These are channels into the same agent runtime, so the answer arrives in the thread where the question was asked, and work that starts on a schedule or a webhook runs through the same definition.

  • Slack

The agent answers in-thread, where the question was already being asked.

  • Microsoft Teams

The same agent, for organisations standardised on Microsoft.

  • GitHub

Issues and pull requests as an entry point for engineering work.

  • Linear

Tickets that an agent can read, summarise, and act on.

  • Scheduled and webhook

    HTTP

Work that starts on a timer or an incoming event rather than a question.

Your infrastructure, not ours

Built on open frameworks and deployed to infrastructure you control, not to a platform of ours you would have to keep renting. Nothing here locks you to us, which is the point, because an agent you cannot take with you is a hostage rather than an asset.

  1. Index

A search index is deployed on infrastructure you control: a single container for a small team, a managed cluster for production, or fully air-gapped where nothing may leave the network. Your documents are indexed where they already live rather than copied into somebody else’s product.

  2. Connect

Connectors are pointed at the systems that actually hold the answers, and they sync continuously, so the agent is reading today’s document rather than a snapshot taken at launch.

  3. Build

One agent definition serves every channel. The answer in a chat window and the answer over text come from the same place, which is what stops them drifting apart as your business changes.

  4. Deploy

Deployed with the channels your business actually uses switched on. A conversation that starts on one surface can continue on another, because the session belongs to the agent rather than to the channel it began in.

Connectors we name

Forty or so systems can be connected. These are the ones we will name in advance; the rest get scoped against your actual stack in the consultation, because a connector promised on a page and discovered later to be awkward is worse than one nobody mentioned.

Permission-aware retrieval

  • Confluence

  • SharePoint

For these, the agent inherits the permissions the source system already enforces, so someone only gets answers from documents they could open themselves. Not every system supports it, and where it is available it depends on the deployment tier, so we confirm both against your systems before quoting. In a regulated business this is the difference between a useful agent and a data incident.

What is an internal AI agent?

An agent your team asks instead of interrupting someone. It reads the systems your company already uses (the wiki, the CRM, the shared drive, the ticket queue) and answers in the place the question was going to be asked anyway, usually Slack or Teams.

Which systems can it index?

Slack, Confluence, Google Drive, SharePoint, GitHub, Salesforce, Notion, Jira, Zendesk, and HubSpot, among around forty systems that can be connected. Those ten are the ones we will name in advance; anything else is scoped against your actual stack in the consultation rather than promised on a page.

Can it respect who is allowed to see what?

Yes, for the systems that support it: Confluence, Jira, GitHub, Google Drive, Gmail, Slack, Salesforce, and SharePoint. The agent inherits the permissions the source system already enforces, so someone only gets answers from documents they could open themselves. Not every system supports it and where it does it depends on the deployment tier, so it is the first thing we establish if you are regulated.

Does our data leave our network?

Only if you want it to. The index is self-hosted on infrastructure you control: a single container for a small team, a managed cluster for production, or a fully air-gapped deployment with no internet dependency at all.

Is our data used to train a model?

No. Retrieval happens at question time against your current documents; the agent looks things up rather than having memorised them. That also means a document you correct today is answered correctly today.

What does an internal agent cost?

Most small businesses invest $1,500–$5,000 per month for ongoing work. Individual projects are quoted per engagement, and every engagement starts with a free consultation.

What kind of work is it?

Select any that apply. If none of them quite fit, skip it — sorting that out is what the consultation is for.
